At Ananda Madhumaya, we follow a subtle or sattvic diet. That is, we strive to consume foods that have a positive effect on both the body and mind, avoiding unnecessary suffering or death among sentient beings.
This diet consists of fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts, sweet spices, honey and fresh dairy products .
Thanks to the yogic and Ayurvedic knowledge developed over the past 7,000 years, we can now enjoy the many benefits of this eating style, which is still little known in Western culture. These benefits include creating an alkaline environment in the body, making it more resistant to disease, facilitating digestion and nutrient absorption, balancing the mood, increasing sensitivity, and providing greater strength and mental clarity.
Maintaining ideal health and well-being is important to us. Therefore, we refrain, and ask our visitors to refrain from consuming or introducing meat, eggs, fish, garlic, onions, mushrooms, alcohol, cigarettes, or recreational drugs.
